I wanted to make a photo album out of it so I cut off the front and back covers of the book and then took apart the interior pages. I sorted through the pages so I could decide which images and story lines I wanted to include in the photo album. There were so many cute images, so it was hard to decide. The interior of the album is made from .22 chipboard which has been covered with decorative papers, images from the book, as well as some full pages from the book. I used PVA glue (a book binding glue) to adhere the storybook images. Since the pages were fragile, I wanted to use a good flexible glue, which is the PVA glue. I also wanted to add a little protection to the storybook images so I embossed with clear embossing powders. Even though some of the wording from the back side of the page did seep through, I liked the final outcome. I hope you enjoy viewing this little photo album. Simple to make, and to me it is adoreable! Thank you for visiting my blog!
I think both have turned out nicely. I just learned how to make the mini paper roses that I used on top of the box, so I am very proud of that accomplishment. Anything that I can learn to make crafting less expensive, the better. So, I'm just doodling along trying to learn all that I can. So, this past couple of weeks I have been playing around making different types of butterflies. From wire, to tulle, cardboard, etc. Yesterday, I finally created some butterflies that I absolutely love and wanted to share with you. I hope you enjoy! Thank you for visiting my blog!
I really liked the idea, however, I didn't have a 'premade' gift box and I didn't want to copy the original idea so I created my own little circle gift box. It took me a few times, but I think I finally figured it out. I do have some tweaking to do, but I think for my first official cupcake gift box that this one turned out really cute. Hope you enjoy. I'll try to post a 'how too' later on, once I have it all figured out and feel comfortable enough with what I am doing to work on a tutorial. Thank you for taking a look and I hope you enjoy!
Deanna's Creationshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07552200106651096588noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5053180259196560705.post-26165314177316805692012-01-01T16:20:00.000-08:002012-01-01T16:20:51.377-08:00Photo AlbumI have been wanting to make one of these photo albums for quiet some time, as with a lot of things I've had on my list 'to do'. Since I have been off of work, for the holidays, I decided to work on some things that I've been putting off. Will go back to work on Thursday, so my crafting frenzy will slow down. But, I will continue to do as much as I can that is possible. My goal for 2012 is to work on my Etsy sales. I have been using Etsy for almost a year, and have sold a few things. However, I would like to be selling more--like most people. Not necessarily out of greed, but more for the fact to be recognized for the work that I do--it is a boost to the ego, I reckon.

Well, here are some photos of the album I created. It consist of 9 cd pages, however, I only decorated the first few pages of the album. I like to leave some pages blank so whoever receives it can add their own flare.

Thank you for visiting my blog and hope you enjoy the photos.
Lot's of Butterflies!Everytime I go shopping for crafting supplies I come across beautiful butterflies that I would just love to use on projects. However, they are so darn expensive. So, I have been on a mission to learn how to create my own butterflies and of course selling them in my Etsy shop. I have made a lot of mistakes in making them but those mistakes were turned into learning experiences. I have thrown away a lot of tulle, wire, and burned my fingers on hot glue and Utee...but, it's been fun and now I can say I have come up with a couple of butterflies that I am proud of. I still want to learn a few more techniques for making butterflies, but I am very happy with the results of the ones that I have created. Hope you enjoy looking at the photos.
I really liked how it turned out. I have never used the crackle paint before, and I just love the texture it gives to the album as well as give a masculine look/feel. I am have some ideas for other albums using the crackle paint so am excited to get started on that. But next on my agenda is to work on embellishments, I am running low so need to get things made so I can get back to crafting again. I had a lot of fun creating it, as it is the first masculine album that I have created. I have another one to do and am excited to get a start on it. One thing that I have found is that it is not easy finding masculine scrapping papers. But, once I found these papers, I jumped on the opportunity to purchase from Michael's. I can't recall the name of the papers, but there is such a wide variety of masculine papers in this pack. Hope you enjoy the photos and thank you for visiting my blog.
Below is a picture of what I created. More importantly than the journal is the video that I came across, on Pinterest, about keeping a journal. This is such a lovely little video and worth watching!..

Now, here is the journal that I created.

If you are interested in a journal, please check out my Etsy shop! There is a link to it on my blog. I would love to create something special for you. Journals are $25.00 each, plus shipping.
Deanna's Creationshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07552200106651096588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5053180259196560705.post-40273834357705817992011-11-20T13:14:00.000-08:002011-11-20T13:14:59.775-08:00Photo Image TransfersThe last couple of days I have been working with photo image transfers. I really am enjoying this process and the results. I do not have a laser printer, but will be investing in one soon. The images will be bolder with a laser printer, but for now, I will continue using my older printer--it still gives some good results--a lot lighter (almost ghostly in appearance).

For now I am going to just post what I have created, later I will post a tutorial on how to create these images. I want to work on my technique and get my laser printer so I can show the results of both. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you for taking a look at my work!

This is a picture frame I created using the transfer method. I created the transfer overlay of my new neice, Layla. I put this image over the top of a printed poem. I painted the frame white, lined with faux fur and beads. I think it turned out really cute.

I have been working on several Fabric Christmas Ornaments so would like to share this with you!

Pine Cone Fabric Ornament

Materials:

1- 3" styrofoam ball
Fabric, cut into 2" squares (you can choose multiple colors or a single color)
Straight pins

Begin by folding a 2" piece of fabric in half, and then fold in half again. This will form a square. Angle the square so the point is facing towards the top and place one pin on the left corner. Fold a 2nd piece of fabric. Place at an angle, as you did te first, and overlap the first corner slightly and pin the left corner. Repeate until you meet back up with the first piece of fabric. Now start the second row. This time, place the folded piece of fabric at the 'v' of the first row (between two pinned and folded pieces). Repeat the process of folding and pinning until you reach your 2nd row starting point. Contiue with this method until the entire ball is filled. Decorate the ball with jewels, ribbon, or whatever creative ideas you may have. You sould end up with something like this:
I found a template on Pinterest to make the boxes, and it is super easy! I'll have to find it again, and link to my blog. I have created a couple of wallets and cards. I never really thought about using Duct tape in crafting, but it is a lot of fun and the possibilites are endless. Hope you enjoy looking at what I have created. Thank you for stopping by, and please leave a comment and your suggestions. The first card comes with a duct tape envelop, the second card was the first card that I actually created so it is a little rough looking, and then the purple girls wallet.
I had an idea to use the decorative duct tape. I have never worked with duct tape before so this was definitely experimental on my part. I must say, I really had fun making this egg ornament and plan on creating a few more of these. Hope you enjoy...Thank you for visiting my blog! I prefer to create cards, photo album wordbooks, pysanky eggs, knitting, drawing/painting, and other crafts. However, this past week, I was contacted by the My Memroies Suite team and asked to review their digital scrapbooking software. I was a little skeptical, but I thought what the heck, what did I have to lose. So, I took on the challenge and downloaded the software to give it a try. As I said, I am not a scrapbooker. I was pleasantly surprised how simple the program is to work. I really enjoy having all of the neat digital papers, embellishments, etc. right at my finger tips. Not only can I organize my photos into a decorative album, but, I can also create movies and slide shows with background music. As well as cards, sports cards, calendars, photo books, and other creative ideas. I am really excited about this program.

This year, I am one of our high school junior class sponsors. It is tradition that favors are given to all of the students who attend the junior/senior prom. With the high cost of frames, glasses, and other favors, I told my daughter that with this program that we could create a really cool slide-show to be given to all of the students as one of their favors. It would be minimal cost and a little bit of time. But, I think it would be a really neat gift for the students and one that they can cherish for years to come.

This is the first layout that I created using the My Memories Suite. It is a simple layout, but I like it and am happy with the outcome for my first try. I am not real technology savvy so programs have to be easy for me to understand in order to use it!
I thought that was a pretty cool feature in itself. The program is super easy!!
It has been a long time since I have knitted, but have recently picked it back up. I am really enjoying working with the yarns, and feeling the soft textures of the materials. Currently I have been knitting fuzzy head band ear warms, if you are interested in purchasing, you can find them on my etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/dlgarner68 I can make almost any color, depending on what is available in my local area. It has been a while since I created anything new. I must say, since school has started, I have been busy or just too tired to work on anything new. I decided, Monday, to work on an album. I had a lot of odds and ends that I have made over the past year and wanted to use them on something. So, my mission was to create an album without making anything new to go on it. I had some tags I had created a while back, some paper flowers, some odd and ends in jewelry pieces, and I also had some pins that I made several months ago. So, with what materials I had on hand, I made this 6"x6" photo album. Hope you enjoy!Deanna's Creationshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07552200106651096588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5053180259196560705.post-9094456685283122502011-09-03T23:14:00.000-07:002011-09-03T23:14:28.608-07:00Hairbows

Trying my hand at making hairbows. Created some for our schools cheerleaders last week, and I had a lot of fun making the bows. I thought I would have plenty of time, this summer, to do a lot of crafts but it seems we have been very busy on the home front. We went on a couple of trips, one to Holly MI, where we visited family. Then we took a little excursion to Mackinaw Island for a couple of days. Once we returned home to Arkansas, we headed off to Dauphin Island to spend some time with my family, at the beach. We had a great time! Caught lots of fish, crabs, etc...However, I ended up having a little spill while at the beach, twisted both of my ankles. I am better now, but it took a couple of weeks for them to heal. Once home from the beach, I had to leave for a week to go to an Art Retreat, for work. It was wonderful. So nice to be around other teachers to learn new skills and brush up on old skills. Once returning from the retreat, my daughter and I took a road trip to visit my sister in Alabama, we stayed for a week. We've been hom about two weeks...I must say, it is good to be home. My husband and I start back to work tomorrow--workshops, meetings, etc. And then the kids return to school on August 15th.

It has been quiet an eventful summer. Needless to say, with all of the traveling, I put on more weight!...Well, last Sunday, I got motivated to go out and start jogging/walking. I have been getting up at 5am every morning, and gradually improving the distance that I am jogging. I am jogging, slowly, a mile now and walking .5 miles. My goal is to be jogging 2 miles by the end of the month. I have been really surprised at how easy it has been. Well, not easy, but it's not as hard as I thought it would be. I will be 43 years old this month, and I want to be a better me!...It's time to take care of me and my health!... I am not a fan of gettung up at at 5am, however, it has been 110 degrees here, in Arkansas, with a heat index of 118...So, for now I'd rather get up at 5am and be somewhat comfortable!...I am still surprised at the number of people who run/walk during the heat of the day!...

Anyway, I am looking forward to doing some more crafting, but it may be somewhat limited. I am working more on keeping up with my Etsy store and making new things for it. I have not been so great at keeping up with blogging, checking out others blogs, or even looking through my crafty friends creations on facebook. Hopefully it will get better.
Hope all is well with everyone!...Take care and drop me a note sometime, love hearing from ya!Deanna's Creationshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07552200106651096588noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5053180259196560705.post-45332642987992411052011-07-09T16:00:00.000-07:002011-07-09T16:00:03.401-07:00Sticky Note Wallets and EtsyI started making these sticky note wallets a couple of months ago. Life has been busy, going on vacation, and just the usual everyday stuff. So, I haven't taken much time to craft. However, today, I made a few wallets. I have these on sale in my Etsy store.

I have had my Etsy store for about four months so far, I have had three sales. As thankful as I am of the three sales, I am a little disappointed. I know I could not expect miracles, but it would be nice to have a steady sale, even if it is just one sale a month. I have put various items in my shop over the last few months, but today, I decided that I would just focus on one thing and that will be the Post it note wallets.

Here are the wallets that I have created today. I think these would make great little teacher gifts, a token of appreciation to a dear friend, or even as a filler for a gift basket. They are so convenient.

If you read this post, and have an Etsy, please visit my shop and let me know what I can do to make it better...I am up for all of the advice and help that I can receive...
