Bamboo Toothpick Flower Embellishment
I had a lot of fun making this abstract/floral embellishment. I used Bamboo toothpicks, that I cut in half. I distressed the toothpicks with Tim Holtz distressed ink, and then sprayed the picks with some homemade glimmer mist. After assembling/gluing, I added the beads and then wrapped wire around the picks. I then took some larger guage wire and made the center of the flower...I think it looks pretty cute...It's different, that is for sure...
Paperclip Flower Button
I think I am loving paperclips...ha ha....May have to find some other different styles to use to make flowers...

Paper clip and button flower
Last night, I was looking through all of the groups post, and someone posted a tutorial on how to make button flowers. I thought it was adoreable and something that I wanted to try. I do not have many buttons, so I went to Walmart to see what they had (not much). Well, when walking through the office supply, I came across these colored paper clips. I thought the clips would be great for petals.
I traced my larger button, onto a sheet of chipboard and cut it out. Then, I cut out a piece of black cardstock, to cover the chipboard and inked the edges. I could have just used a marker or paint to color the chipboard, and will probably do that next time--but this was trial and error so I just went with what I was doing.
I then hotglued the clips around the circle, and reinforced the center with more hot glue. I added the larger black button (hot glued in place), then tied a little piece of ribbon that matched the clips onto the white button and hot glued it into place.
I think it is a really sweet button, and will look nice in the center of a bow.
Thanks for taking a looksie.

Flower Practice
I would like to thank Shelley over at http://heartstring-designs.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-flower-tutorials.html . If not for her awesome tutorials, I would still be trying to figure out how to make nifty flowers! If you would like to learn how to make the satin and the small paper flowers drop on over to her blog for her wonderful tutorial. I have looked at various tutorials and hers are very easy to follow with clearn instructions!...
The swirl flowers, and the larger blue flower to the right, I learned how to make by watching different youtube videos (not sure of the link).
My goal is to learn something new everyday about crafting and especially to learn how to save money on items that we use in crafting.
Thank you for taking a looksie at these flowers. If you have any suggestions or know of good tutorials to check out, please let me know.

Mini-Roses
Today has been a very busy day. My hubby worked in the yard, putting in his garden (his baby as he calls it). I did some pulling up of weeds, and worked in the house for a bit.
Now that I was tuckered out, I decided to do some internet searching of how to create paper roses.
I cannot take credit for the idea behind these roses. I found the tutorial on http://heartstring-designs.blogspot.com/2010/03/another-rose-tutorial.html and I just had to give it a try! This was a very easy to follow tutorial. My roses are not near as beautiful as the ones on her blog, but I think they turned out pretty nicely for my first try.
Thank you for taking a looksie!

Love My Faces
I purchased my first set of PKS last week and the stamps arrived yesterday! I must say I absolutely LOVE the faces! I think this is one of the best purchases that I have made and I will be using these for a long time! I wanted to make something with the stamps, and I wanted it to be a quick project, so I made my husband a set of smiley faces so he can stick on his students work! He teaches high school (and so do I). I know that the kids will love seeing one of these smiley faces on their work.

Paper Flowers
I used the cricut to cut these flowers from acid free paper. I think they turned out nicely and will use them on my Word Books. Here are the steps to create these flowers yourself. It is quick, easy, and less expensive than purchasing the floral packages. And a great way to use up scraps!!
Step 1: Choose any floral image from a cricut cartridge
Step 2: Cut 2-3" flowers, 2-2" flowers, and 2-1" flowers
Step 3: Attach with a brad or other finding, starting with the smallest flower first. Rotate the petals on each layer.
Step 4: Spray flowers with water.
Step 5: Starting with the center flowers, scrunch towards the center. Repeate with each layer.
Step 6: Unfold the flowers
Step 7: Spray with a glitter spray to variety.
Step 8: Let dry
Step 9: Apply to your creations
**To create more depth, ink the edges of the petals before assembling.
